Picture Book Dummy Critique - $75
Picture book dummies should be saved as PDFs and uploaded to the “file upload” section below. Dummy critiques include both line edits and big picture edits focusing on all that’s included in manuscript critiques, as well as notes on:
• composition
• color palette
• design/text layout
• character consistency
• page turns
Art Portfolio Review - $65
Art portfolio reviews focus specifically on artwork geared toward the picture book market. Portfolios should include 10-15 pieces of art, saved as a PDF, and uploaded to the “file upload” section below. Portfolio reviews include notes on:
• subject matter
• narrative quality
• character design
• color choices/palettes
• composition/design
• consistency
Critique Style and Specialities:
My critique style is honest, yet positive. I will always look for the things that are working and suggest ways to enhance those. I will also look for the heart of the story and your vision so my suggestions speak to your point of view and voice.
I specialize in funny, quirky, commercial, and dark picture books. I do not critique rhyming picture books.
What to Expect and Turn Around Time:
Manuscript and dummy critiques include both line edits and at least 1 page of big picture edits, suggestions, questions, and commentary.
All critiques will be sent back with notes within 7 business days of submission.
